The Teaching Collection

The Teaching Collection has educational objectives. Works are selected for their instructive qualities, namely their ability to represent an art movement or period or to illustrate a particular technique. The museum’s education department can use these works in its extramural educational activities in schools. Since 2016, the MAC LAU has developed a series of new activities, LeMusée dans votre classe [The Museum in Your Classroom], using works from this collection to raise awareness of contemporary art, often in underprivileged schools that don’t have the means to take students to the museum. This program was established in response to the Ministry of Education’s cuts to extracurricular activities during the 2015–2016 school year.

Contribute to the development of our collection

The main mission of the Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides is to showcase, share and promote the works of visual artists. Towards this vision, the museum collects, preserves, exhibits and documents artworks with a particular emphasis on contemporary art. The MAC LAU acquires, on a regular basis, a growing collection of print and audiovisual works and media reflective of the visual arts practices of the Laurentians, allowing for the continued documentation, preservation, research, exhibition and interpretation of these works. The MAC LAU carefully evaluates all artworks donation submissions.
